Have you ever had a leg pain that sent you to the moon and back?? Well I have and it's no picnic.
It started just before last Thanksgiving, wasn't much at first but then each day it became harder to walk, it was centered around my knee. My sweetheart said I must have strained my leg somehow and thought if I would put heat and then ice on the sore spot it might help. I did this, did it help, maybe a little, but it sure didn't go away..
Time went by and so I went to my doctor that had fixed my trigger fingers and received a shot in the knee. This did help for a few days and I was encouraged, but then the pain started again. Now what was I going to do?
My husband's friend told him that the symptoms sounded something like he had had a few years ago, so I took the name and number of his doctor, made an appointment and went to see him. He was so kind and helpful, he made arrangement for some test, I met with him again, a plan was suggested, I went for it and surgery took place.
Things went well and I was soon back to doing things with no pain, but did that last long? NO, but this time I now had pain in my right leg.. First the left and now the right, what is going on?? Years ago I had had pain in a leg that was caused from a back problem, could this be another problem with my back? I had been babying my left side because of the pain, so maybe I caused this new problem by the way I walked.. now what??
My sweetheart took me to his chiropractor for an adjustment, again it felt better, but in the morning the pain was back, I went back to the chiropractor for another adjustment which help, but this time he told me he thought it was my back and I should see a pain doctor.
I took the name of the pain doctor he suggested and made an appointment. This new doctor was also kind and helpful, we had more test, found what the problem was and what the treatment would be. Shots in my back. Time and date was set, had my shot and right now things are better and each day is good. I have to say, I am still a little scared, when I stand up sometimes, my leg feels like its on the verge of acting up but then when I take a step I feel a click and then everything is just fine...
I must say my Sweetheart has been such a dear during these past few months. When I was having this pain he would move my legs like the chiropractor did and the pain went away for a time. He took such good care of me, waited on me and helped me with all my needs. I am so blessed to have such a sweetheart, he has loved me and been by my side all my life.
Its times like this that makes one count their blessings and to bring thanksgivings for good health.
When I look back on my life, I give thanks to my Heavenly Father for all the blessing I have, especially for the love of a good husband and basically for the good health I have always enjoyed, with a little pain now and then. I'm not up to dancing a jig just yet but maybe down the road, right now I'm thankful I can walk without pain.
