My daughter Marta and her husband David arrived here for a weeks visit with Mom and Dad just before Christmas. We were glad for this visit as they live back east and so our visits are not that often. This visit will give us a chance to play catch up with the news of activities of their life and the lives of our Grandchildren and our Great-Grandchildren.
We took a day and went to town as Marta wanted to visit some of the stores we have here, that she doesn't have back home. We ended up at our local Deseret Industries store and went in to look around to see if we could find a treasure or two. Our husbands went in a different direction but it wasn't long till my Sweetheart was back with us. He had found something he wanted to show me.
Now at home in my Sun Room I have two couches. But now days things are not made to last forever, so one of these couches has hit the dust.. I've been telling my sweetheart we need to get some new couch for the sun room, but he keeps putting it aside, but now hes excited and wants me to go with him to see something. Low and behold what did he find? You guessed it, he found a couch.
I looked at the couch and it looked like it was in pretty good condition, it was a light tan color with a floral print and I thought it would blend pretty well with the couch we still had in the room, so we decided to buy it, but now we had a problem on how to get it home. My youngest son lives near by and he has a truck, so I thought I would call him and ask him if he would do me a favor and pick this couch up and bring it down after work and then stay for dinner and visit with us. He said, sure Mom I can do that, so we paid for the couch and made plans for him to pick it up.
Time went by, we did some more shopping and then home we went and dinner was started. Soon my son was here. My son-in-law went out with Brad to bring in the couch and to their horror, one of the cushions was missing. It seems that my son had tied the couch down but not the cushions, and it must had flown out on the freeway somewhere between DI and home.
My heart sank, it wasn't the end of the world and I sure didn't know what I was going to do, but I did know my son felt terrible.
David said to Brad, come on, I'll drive and we will go back to town and drive the freeway home and you can look for that lost cushion. Now it was dark and we are talking about 20 miles on the freeway, what are the chances the cushion would be found and if it was, what kind of condition would it be in? I said a prayer and kept it in my heart.
It was all most an hour when Brad and David finally arrived back home, they both came in with happy smiles on their faces, they had found the cushion. I thought, how on earth did you ever find a cushion, at night on the freeway?
It seems they were almost to our off ramp, not much traffic was on the freeway and on the far left Brad saw what looked like a cushion. David pulled over and Brad got out and ran to were he thought it might be and to his joy there was the cushion to Mom's DI couch and it looked like it was still in good condition, like nothing was wrong.
They brought in the couch with all the cushions, they carried it down to the sun room, took out the broken couch and put the DI couch in its place.
My daughter told me it looked pretty good and tomorrow she would give it a good cleaning. We put the pillows from the old couch on it and if I must say, I do think it looks pretty good and I will also say, my sweetheart did a good job of finding a treasure today at DI.
Dinner was served, we had a nice visit with our children and we gave thanks for the finding of the lost cushion and my son Brad went home with a warm and happy feeling that all was well.
It was lost but it was found and all is well.
